What is a Lotto Max smart pick?
A smart pick is a set of Lotto Max numbers made by a generator instead of by you. Ours builds a full play: four lines, seven different numbers on each, all between 1 and 52. You can keep up to three lucky numbers on every line and let the generator fill the rest. You can also lean the picks toward the numbers drawn most, or least, since the April change.
None of those settings changes your odds. They only change which combination you end up with. We built the same kind of tool for Lotto 6/49 smart picks and for keno, and the rule holds for all of them: every number has the same chance in every draw.
How does the new Lotto Max work?
Lotto Max changed on April 14, 2026. Here’s what matters when you’re picking numbers:
- Each line is seven numbers from 1 to 52. Before the change it was 1 to 50.
- A play now has four lines instead of three.
- The jackpot starts at $10 million and caps at $90 million.
- MAXMILLIONS prizes are added once the jackpot reaches $50 million.
- Every draw also has $100,000 MAXPLUS prizes, and there are more of them as the jackpot grows.

What are the odds of winning Lotto Max?
The jackpot odds are 1 in 33,446,140 per play. Here’s the math: there are 133,784,560 ways to choose seven numbers from 52, and one play gives you four lines, so 133,784,560 ÷ 4 = 33,446,140. The odds of winning any prize are about 1 in 5.8 per play, better than the 1 in 7 before the change.

Which Lotto Max numbers have come up most since the change?
We pulled every Lotto Max result from XO Lotto’s results feed since the format changed: 43 draws, from April 14 to September 8, 2026. With seven numbers a draw, each number would come up about 5.8 times if every number landed equally often.

The two new balls have kept up. Number 52 has come up nine times, more often than 46 of the original 50 numbers. Number 51 has come up six times, right around the average. At least one of them was drawn in 15 of the 43 draws. Number 20 appeared in the very first draw of the new format and hadn’t come up again by September 8.

Do hot or overdue numbers improve your odds?
No. Each draw is independent. Any single number has a 7 in 52 chance of being drawn next time, about 13.5%, whether it came up last week or hasn’t shown since April.
Forty-three draws is also a small sample. One number at 10 and another at 1 is what random results look like over five months. We ran a standard fairness check (a chi-square test) on the counts above, and they fall well inside the range a fair draw produces.
